Admins are required to have some form of admin status in tribe build

whether it be a pachy that alerts players or just in their tribe name itself. I think admins should have some way of letting all players know it is an admin base to limit people just taking admin dinos and destroying their bases. I also think all admins should be required to have their own tribes without others, unless they are other admins or current players they are helping. This way no one has an unfair non tame/ destroy advantage just because they have connections.

While this seems to be a simple idea in theory, there are many problems with implementing it. We’re always open to ideas on how to improve things but here are some of the issues:

Let’s start with the issues of marking admin tribes:

Many, but not all, of our admin bases and tribes are marked in some way. None of these really seem to matter though. Multiple times, we’ve had level 7500 paras named Admin base claimed when an admin goes on vacation. After which, other people came in and claimed from the base.

Some admins have billboards saying it’s an admin base, and when they’ve gone on vacation come back to those billboards being ignored.

Tribe names is another way some admins let people know it’s an admin tribe. However this fails for two reasons. One, people ignore it, we’ve had people claim from and demo at a map’s post office. Ark also has a limit on the number of characters a tribe name can have. This means for some people to put (admin) in their tribe name, they would have to switch the tribe name they’ve been using for years.

Most of us mix and match from the above methods, but none of them really work 100%.

On not being allowed to tribe with others:

This would mean that people would have to split dinos and bases with people we’ve possibly been tribed with for years. Instead of forcing people to not play with their friends, we have a Code of Ethics that includes a section on not using admin powers in a way that gives unfair advantages over normal players to ourselves or other players. This includes rules such as, spawned items are either destroyed or put in a room only accessible to the admin when not in use. Breaking these rules is taken very seriously and can, and has in the past, lead to admins being removed.

Thank you for this suggestion. We do use paras to alert players of admin tribes and use (Admin) tags. Being an admin is a volunteer position, we don’t feel it to be right to limit who admins can play with. Admins are people and enjoy playing with friends. I’m also including a previous suggestion where this was brought up to see more points of view.
